When does a cryotransfer take place?
- In the case of ovarian hyperstimulation (OHSS), which occurs as a result of IVF (in vitro fertilisation) treatment when the woman's body reacts excessively to the fertility drugs.
- Genetic testing of embryos, such as a PGT-A (pre-implantation genetic test), which can significantly increase the chances of a successful pregnancy and the birth of a healthy child.
- If a ‘fresh’ embryo transfer cannot take place for various reasons, cryotransfer allows the frozen embryos to be used in a later cycle.
- In cases where a woman cannot become pregnant immediately, such as due to health problems or necessary medical treatment.
