The eggs of our donors meet international quality criteria.
There are various reasons why some women are not able to produce viable eggs. To meet their desire to have a child nevertheless, we can offer them eggs obtained from selected and carefully vetted donors.
Extract from the Austrian Reproductive Medicine Act: Use of donated eggs in women prematurely in the menopause or who do not have an adequate ovarian egg reserve was legalised in 2015. Female donors may not be older than 30 years of age while recipients may not be older than 45 years of age. In the course of this treatment, the donor’s eggs are to be fertilised with the man’s semen, thus producing embryos. These are returned to the woman. The conceived child has the right on reaching the age of 14 years (as in the case of sperm donations) to be informed of the identity of the donor. This donor, however, will have no maintenance obligations.
In accordance with the prohibition of commercialisation specified under law, donors may receive no payment for their donations.
Also prohibited is the commissioning and commercialisation of semen and egg donations. As a safeguarding measure, donated semen or eggs may be used in medically assisted reproduction in a maximum of three married couples, partnerships or cohabiting couples.
The storing of unfertilised eggs for personal use, unless there is a medically attested reason for this, continues to be prohibited. Surrogacy also remains prohibited in Austria.
